On May 25, several of Finley's innovative teachers attended WSD's i4 Showcase at Johnson Middle School, where teachers shared ideas for 21st Century teaching and learning, including flexible seating options and apps for blended learning. The showcase was truly inspirational!

Finley's Kindness Club

Fifth graders in Ms. Perry's kindness club hung a paper kindness chain as a visual display of the entire school's acts of kindness. Students too young to log their acts of kindness onto the website write them on strips of paper and club members log the handwritten kindnesses before attaching them to the kindness chain.

Finley McTeacher's Night at McDonalds: March 10, 2016

McTeacher's Night on March 10th, 2016 was a great success thanks to the wonderful partnership that exists amongst staff, students and parents. The families kept coming in large numbers from 4:00-7:00 pm and there was standing room only! The line was out the door all evening and the turn out was astounding! We are grateful for the donations and the funds earned for the evening's sales. The best part was watching families enjoying the social interaction in a friendly and relaxed setting.

Finley Family Literacy Night, March 2, 2016

The Finley Family Literacy Night was held on March 2, 2016 in conjunction with Read Across America Week and the annual Scholastic Book Fair. The evening began with some get acquainted activities and survey questions about literacy activities enjoyed by families.

Happy New Year 2016!

Finley Elementary remains committed to our school wide core values: Respect, Responsibility, and safety in the new year through school wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS), ongoing professional development in the area of writing while still embracing one minute oral fluency reads, and preparation for a scheduled simulation of a Lockdown Drill on January 29, 2016.
