Principals Message

Welcome to Finley Elementary School!  It is with my deepest honor and respect that I introduce myself as the new principal of Finley Elementary School.  During the last 2 years as the Assistant Principal at Johnson Middle School next door, I have come to appreciate of all the wonderful people and families that reside in our community.  I look forward to personally meeting you and your children when the year starts to ensure your child's needs are being met.  With all that being said, we would like to extend a warm welcome to the beginning of an exciting school year. Here at Finley Elementary School, home of the 3A Eagle Way where our motto is: “Act Respectfully, Act Responsibly, and Act Safely!”  We continue to integrate technology on a daily basis in all of our classrooms to support 21st Century Skills including school wide implementation of ST MIND Math, Accelerated Reader, and Discovery Education. Students in Kindergarten and first grade will continue working on Imagine Learning in English Language Arts, and students in second through fifth grades will continue to enhance their skills with our one to one Chromebooks .
There are many traditions in place at Finley Elementary School and I'm excited to experience them while continuing to build new ones that will enhance the lives of our young boys and girls.  With committed individuals: teachers, staff, parents, students and the school community, we will attain our goals by working together to get better everyday.  Elementary School is the foundation for our children.  They must develop their foundational skills to grow into a productive member of our society when that time arrives.  We value the challenge at hand and we are appreciative of the opportunity you have given us to help mold your child into the best person they can be.  We would like to thank you in advance for your efforts in working with us to grow your child, both academically and socially.

We, at Finley Elementary School, recognize that we cannot accomplish our goals alone.  It is for that reason that we will continue to offer a variety of opportunities for parent involvement that include parent teacher conferences, parent education seminars and adult Education English Language Development classes, School Site Council, English Language Advisory Committee, PTA, and classroom volunteers. Be sure to let your teacher or the office know if you are interested in volunteering on campus.

Please note the following parent/teacher conference dates:

Trimester #1- October 17-21, 2016
Trimester #2- March 23-24, 2017 for “At Risk Students”

Please continue to check our website or the district website for updates throughout the year.

I am excited to work with all of you this school year to meet the needs of our children.

With Best Regards,

Raul D. Olivas
