Academic achievement is an important goal of Finley School. Good attendance and citizenship are essential and contribute directly to ongoing academic progress. These are recognized throughout the year as described below.
The Student of the Month Assembly is held each month to celebrate students who are selected by their teachers for demonstrating the specific character trait for that month. The character traits of the month are as follows:
Perfect Attendance is is recognized at the end of each trimester as well as the end of the school year. To receive a perfect attendance award, students must be present everyday. If students are tardy or are checked out early, they are not eligible for a perfect attendance award.
Bringing Up Grades (BUG) Awards
The Kiwanis Club created the Bringing Up Grades Awards to recognize students who have made significant progress to improve their grades. These students are identified by their teachers for making the most improvement. These students are recognized at an awards assembly at the end of each trimester.
End of the Year Awards Assemblies
Two end of the year awards assemblies are held during the last week of school to celebrate our students' accomplishments at a primary awards assembly (K-2) and at the upper grades awards assembly (3-5). Awards include:
